GSA cancels $2b FBI HQ project

by Andrea Waitrovich

The General Services Administration has canceled its plans to build a new $2 billion Federal Bureau of Investigation headquarters. The Washington Post first reported GSA’s decision.

A lack of funding prompted the decision to cancel the headquarters project. In a joint statement, the FBI and the General Services Administration said they did not get the full $1.4 billion sought under the federal government’s 2017 budget.

GSA said Tuesday the cancellation “does not lessen the need for a new FBI headquarters” and that the agency will work with the FBI to address space requirements.
