GRESB launches new infrastructure assessment for projects in development

by Kali Persall

GRESB is launching a new assessment focused on infrastructure assets in the construction and preconstruction phases.

The Infrastructure Development Asset Assessment was developed in consultation with infrastructure investors and managers in the GRESB Foundation, and it supplements GRESB’s existing fund and operational asset assessments.

According to GRESB, it was developed for fund managers and asset operators to provide investors with a more nuanced view of the sustainability efforts of projects that are not yet operational (something that GRESB’s existing infrastructure asset assessment wasn’t expressly built for).

The new development asset assessment uses a “dynamic materiality” that considers the specific characteristics of a given asset and its stage of development to provide benchmarking insights and a scorecard that is useful for decision making.
