Green assets show particular promise for infrastructure investors

As the appetite for green investments grows, climate-resilient real estate and electric vehicles have emerged as the most promising investment areas for European infrastructure funds, according to a recent survey conducted by Linklaters.

The survey involved 302 fund and portfolio managers who invest in the energy and utilities or infrastructure/transport sectors in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxembourg, representing more than £1 trillion ($1.3 trillion) of assets under management.

Fund managers have identified the digital infrastructure space as the sector with the most opportunities as a result of the pandemic, followed by renewable power and green infrastructure.

The survey also found that nearly a quarter of the investment fund managers polled expect to increase the proportion of green assets in their portfolios by up to 30 percent in the next two years.
