GPIF issues request for information for infra fund manager

by Kali Persall

Japan’s Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) is considering appointing a new infrastructure manager focusing on opportunities in the emerging markets.

GPIF issued a request for information on April 27, seeking information on fund-of-fund investment focusing on the emerging markets, such as market size, return and track record of managers.

GPIF is required to appoint external asset managers who make investment decisions for GPIF.

The manager would be in charge of GPIF’s global core-focused infrastructure investment strategy.

GPIF said it expects to receive useful information from managers in order to develop an idea of potential investment in the emerging markets going forward.

The deadline to submit information is June 12.
