GLP Clean Energy, the European renewable-energy business of GLP, has started installing a rooftop photovoltaic (PV) system at Unit II of GLP’s logistics center in Mönchengladbach, Germany.
Located in the North Rhine-Westphalia region, the solar PV plant initially will have a total capacity of 3.8 megawatts, powering the equivalent of 784 German households. The plant will be equipped with 9,432 solar modules, over a total area equivalent to three football fields.
The facility’s tenants all will have access to the sustainable power produced by the PV system without any investment required by them and at a discount compared to the utility rate. Meanwhile, surplus power will be fed into the local energy grid, offering the community a dependable supply of sustainable electricity.
The steel framework needed to support the solar modules already has been installed, and the next phase of the project is underway to mount and align the panels on this structure. With a
