Africa-based electricity operator Globeleq has acquired four South African renewable energy plants totaling 80 megawatts from an affiliate of Brookfield Asset Management.
The transaction amount has not been disclosed.
Globeleq acquired three solar assets, which include Aries (11 megawatts), Konkoonsies (11 megawatts), and Soutpan (31 megawatts), in addition to the Klipheuwel wind farm (27 megawatts).
Additionally, Globeleq expects to acquire interests in the 66-megawatt Boshof solar plant in the coming weeks.
The projects originally reached commercial operations in 2014 and have a 20-year power purchase agreement with Eskom, a South African electricity public utility.
Globeleq already owns, operates and manages 238 megawatts of solar and wind projects in South Africa.
