Global real estate investment volume rebounds in Q4 2020

Global commercial real estate investment increased by 84 percent quarter-over-quarter in fourth quarter to $290 billion but was down by 20 percent from fourth quarter 2019, reported CBRE. The surge between third quarter and fourth quarter 2020 was mainly driven by a 97 percent increase in U.S. volume. Nevertheless, annual global investment was down by 26 percent from 2019 because of the pandemic.

The fourth quarter rebound was significant in all three global regions, as the promise of vaccine deployment and continued economic recovery buoyed investor sentiment. Despite a resurgence of COVID-19 infections in parts of the world, fourth quarter performance is grounds for an optimistic outlook for 2021, reported CBRE.
