Glennmont Partners, an alternative energy investment firm, and Ardian Infrastructure have completed the acquisition of a 199-megawatt windfarm portfolio in Italy and Spain.
The purchase price was not disclosed at the time of publication.
Glennmont Partners purchased a 42-megawatt windfarm project located in Sicily from Athena Investments. The windfarm commenced operations in 2010 and benefits from a feed-in tariff scheme. It is located in an area with outstanding wind resources, according to Glennmont.
As part of the transaction, Ardian Infrastructure has completed the acquisition of a 157.2-megawatt portfolio of brownfield windfarms and photovoltaic plants in Italy and Spain through its controlled company 4New.
The acquisition furthers the capital deployment of its Clean Energy Fund III, the company’s largest fund of its kind, which raised €850 million ($939 million) at its final close in June. The fund looks to invest in offshore wind projects, along with solar, onshore wind, bioenergy and hydropower projects in Europe.
