Germany dominates European investment market in 2019

Germany had the largest investment market in Europe for the second consecutive year, according to new research by CBRE. The country had investment volume of €84 billion ($93 billion) in 2019, up 8 percent from the previous year.

The last three months of 2019 had 78 transactions in excess of €100 million ($110 million), including 11 of more than €500 million ($554 million).

In addition, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Ireland, Austria and Portugal all posted record levels of investment in 2019. Austria, Sweden and Ireland saw particularly robust gains, with increases of 39 percent, 56 percent and 58 percent, respectively. Ireland blew forecasted expectations out of the water with an investment volume high of €7.2 billion ($7.9 billion).
