General Atlantic to acquire a 25% stake in Sustainable Development Capital

by Kali Persall

General Atlantic’s BeyondNetZero fund is making a minority investment in Sustainable Development Capital (SDCL), a developer, investor and fund manager focused on energy efficiency and decarbonization solutions.

The fund will acquire 24.9 percent of SDCL, subject to regulatory approval. Financial terms were not disclosed. General Atlantic joins Emigrant Partners, a New York–based strategic capital provider that invested into SDCL in 2022, as an investor in the company.

SDCL’s core strategy is to develop and invest in sustainable energy infrastructure assets that reduce cost and carbon emissions and improve the reliability of energy supply to a diverse range of customers. SDCL, which has $2.5 billion of assets under management, has a proven track record in delivering solutions for major technology, healthcare, commercial, industrial and public-sector clients. Solutions include enterprise and hyperscale data centers, hospitals, heavy and light industrial facilities
