Future Fund awards acting CIO a permanent position

Australia’s Future Fund has appointed Sue Brake to the permanent position of CIO, five months after she stepped into the role of acting CIO.

In July, Brake was chosen to serve as acting CIO, following the promotion of former CIO Raphael Arndt to CEO.

“Sue is a globally recognized investment leader,” said Hon Peter Costello AC, chairman of the Future Fund board of guardians. “Markets and economies are operating in very unusual circumstances and her experience and expertise will be invaluable as we navigate this environment and seek to maximize long-term risk-adjusted returns.”

In June 2019, Brake joined the Future Fund as deputy CIO, portfolio strategy from Willis Towers Watson, where she was head of strategic advisory. Prior to that, she worked as senior investment strategist at the New Zealand Superannuation Fund.
