by Elise Mackanych

The Fresno County (Calif.) Employees Retirement System has committed $25 million to  the PIMCO European Data Centre Opportunity Fund, managed by PIMCO.

The closed-end, opportunistic strategy will build hyperscale data center facilities in Europe, including Madrid, Milan, Berlin, Zurich, Warsaw, Athens and cities in the Nordics. This fund aims to raise $2.3 billion (€2 billion). Earlier in 2025, the Stanislaus County (Calif.) Employees’ Retirement System committed $19.8 million (€17 million) to this fund.

As of March 31, the public pension fund had $6.9 billion in total assets under management, with a 5.3 percent infrastructure allocation target and $365.7 million in total infrastructure assets.
