Former BlackRock managing director joins Buckingham

Benjamin Young, a former managing director at BlackRock, has assumed the role of CIO, managing director at Buckingham, a national vertically integrated developer, owner, manager and investor in multifamily and urban mixed-use real estate across the United States.

Young is a prominent real estate private equity investor and asset manager with more than three decades of experience. As head of BlackRock’s U.S. real estate private equity business, Young was responsible for the growth and management of $11 billion in investments, ranging across core, value-add and opportunistic investments, and he raised the firm’s first closed-end, value-add fund. He also served as a senior member of BlackRock’s $100 billion real assets group.

Prior to BlackRock, Young held managing director and global portfolio manager roles at Strategic Value Partners and Deutsche Bank/Bankers Trust, respectively.
