First State Investments announces rebrand

by Kali Persall

First State Investments, which is known as First Sentier Investors in Australia, said in September the entire company will adopt the name First Sentier Investors.

The company said the name change is part of a global re-branding program which began mid-2019, when First State Investments was acquired by Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc.

“The name change completes our journey towards adopting a single and unified corporate brand name in all markets,” said First State Investments in a statement. “‘First’ references our strong and successful heritage as First State Investments, while the French word ‘Sentier’ means path — representing our journey to investing responsibly over the long term for the benefit of our clients and the communities in which we invest.”

The company added that the rebranding will have no effect on the company’s investment approach.
