Farmland REIT raises $300m

Goldcrest Farm Trust (GFT), a privately-held REIT that invests in farmland across the United States, has raised $300 million for its second investment vehicle.

A group of institutional investors committed capital to the fund, according to GTF.

The REIT is managed by Goldcrest Farm Trust Advisors (GFTA), which focuses exclusively on assembling and managing GFT’s investment portfolio, including its inaugural REIT, which launched in 2015. That investment vehicle also raised more than $300 million in institutional commitments.

“The recent volatility in agricultural markets has created exciting investment opportunities across the United States, and the long-term case for investing in the farmland asset class continues to become more compelling every year,” said Edward Hargroves, a partner and co-founder of GFTA.

With the latest fundraise, GFTA now manages more than $600 million in committed capital across both investment vehicles.
