The Nakano Sun Plaza, an iconic hotel and concert hall in the west of Tokyo, is to be demolished in 2024 and replaced with a 235-meter (771-foot) mixed-use tower, reported Global Construction Review. It was built in 1973 and its 2,200-seat auditorium became a well-known venue for rock and pop music.
The $1.7 billion replacement, due to be completed in 2028, will include a 5,000-seat venue, as well as office and residential space. When complete, the replacement tower will be the eighth tallest building in the city.
