U.S.-based company Common Networks is delivering ultra-high-speed gigabit Internet service to residential customers using Facebook’s Terragraph millimeter-wave technology.
Common is the world’s first and only commercially available, graph-based network delivering 5G Internet service and is now available in Alameda, Calif.
“For more than a decade, consumers have been promised dramatically faster home Internet service. However, due to the high-cost to build or upgrade traditional infrastructure, speeds have been slow to improve,” said Zach Brock, CEO of Common Networks. “We started by rethinking the problem from scratch, using wireless hardware, software, and operations together to deliver faster Internet. We are building next-generation networks for what we know is coming — immersive experiences that require even more speed and bandwidth than today. In working with Facebook, we can accelerate delivery of gigabit Internet into the home.”
Launched in 2017, Common pioneered the use of graph-based technology to deliver ultra-high-speed Internet service. Common is building a 5G network based on open and scalable platforms, deploying millimeter wave and microwave technology on open spectrum. Terragraph uses the open 60 Ghz millimeter-wave frequency.

Common is the largest and only graph-based 5G home Internet service. Expanding quickly to provide coverage throughout Alameda and to other parts of the San Francisco Bay Area, Common is one of the largest 5G Fixed Wireless Access networks in the world with more than 1,000 customers, leapfrogging traditional carriers.
