EVI Technologies and Indian state-owned telecommunications company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) have partnered to install electric vehicle charging infrastructure throughout major cities in India, according to several news sources.
The 10-year memorandum of understanding dictates that EVIT will make the upfront investment on services, along with the operation and maintenance of battery swapping infrastructure, according to Business Standard. BSNL will be responsible for providing the space and power connections for installing the battery swapping infrastructure.
The companies plan to deploy charging infrastructure at 5,000 locations across the country. The first rollout of this infrastructure is due to open next month in Maharastra and Haryana.
