A consortium consisting of Equitix and STRABAG UK was named the competitively appointed provider to design, build, finance and maintain the replacement of the six tunnels on the Haweswater Aqueduct project.

United Utilities is securing water supplies for the next generation of its customers. The replacement of a major supply pipe will be the largest infrastructure project the company has undertaken since privatization. Built between 1933 and 1955, the Haweswater Aqueduct has served 2.5 million people in Cumbria, Lancashire and Greater Manchester, counties in the northwest of England, for 70 years.
