EQT’s third and fourth infrastructure funds have agreed to sell a minority stake in GlobalConnect, a fiber-based data communication and data center services provider, to Mubadala Investment Company.
Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, GlobalConnect provides services to enterprises, public institutions and consumers in Northern Europe. GlobalConnect’s infrastructure carries more than 50 percent of all internet traffic generated in the Nordics across its network of 150,000 kilometers (93,206 miles) of fiber infrastructure and 35,000 square meters (376,737 square feet) of data center space.
The company was created in 2019 through the combination of four independent fiber platforms in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, owned by EQT Infrastructure. After the closing of the transaction, EQT Infrastructure will remain the largest owner of GlobalConnect.
