ENGIE has signed an agreement with Flinders University in Australia to power the institution’s South Australian campuses and facilities with 100 percent renewable energy sources, starting in 2021.
ENGIE’s Willogoleche Wind Farm will deliver electricity for the Bedford Park, Tonsley and regional campuses through a five-year power-purchase agreement (PPA), which will transport 92,000 megawatt hours of power over five years.
Flinders’ transition to renewables is expected to reduce the university’s carbon footprint by 40 megatons.
Encompassed under Flinders University’s 2025 Sustainability Plan, the two parties are considering several other sustainable projects, which include a new solar car park, potential battery storage systems and efficiency opportunities.
