Enertrag SA, a subsidiary of German-based renewable energy company Enertrag, has acquired a 50 percent stake in a South African 1.8-gigwatt wind portfolio owned by local firm Genesis Eco-Energy Developments.
The projects themselves are spread all over the country and will play their part in the South African energy transition and in supplying industrial partners.
Genesis is a South African renewable energy company that has contributed to the development of 520-megawatts of operational wind and solar photovoltaic projects, and it has a pipeline of 2.7 gigawatts from projects in sub-Saharan Africa.
