German utility Energie Baden-Wuerttemberg AG (EnBW) has formed a joint venture with Seattle-based Trident Winds to develop an up-to-1-gigawatt floating wind project off the central coast of California.
This is EnBW’s first foray into U.S. offshore wind with a focus on the West Coast, in particular the state of California.
The Morro Bay project is expected to have a capacity of between 650 megawatts and 1 gigawatt. The joint venture will seek to secure the site lease from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management along with a grid-connection agreement.
