Electra America Hospitality Group adds upscale hotel in Boston

Electra America Hospitality Group (EAHG), a joint venture between Electra America and AKA, has acquired an upscale hotel in the heart of Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood, marking its sixth hotel acquisition in the past 18 months.

The 225-room Loews Boston Hotel will be converted into Hotel AKA Back Bay, marking hospitality leader AKA’s debut in Boston. AKA has also established a foothold in Miami and West Palm Beach, Fla., and expanded in the Manhattan and Washington, D.C., markets.

“This was an excellent opportunity to acquire a well-maintained, upper upscale hotel in the capital of New England, where several prestigious academic institutions, iconic cultural destinations and the nation’s largest life science/biotech cluster are generating strong demand,” said Russ Urban, CEO of EAHG. “While Boston’s hotel recovery has trailed some markets, it’s poised for a strong rebound once business and group travel returns in earnest.”
