The European Investment Bank (EIB) has agreed to provide the Vilnius water authority, Vilniaus Vandenys (VV), with a €50 million ($59 million), 20-year loan facility.
VV is the largest water management company in Lithuania, supplying drinking water and treating wastewater to more than 265,000 customers in Vilnius and Vilnius, Svencionys and Salcininkai districts.
The company supplies about 93 thousand cubic meters of water per day and collects and treats more than 111 thousand cubic meters of wastewater.
The funds will be used to improve water and wastewater infrastructure in the capital region, which is expected to have positive effects on the environment and living conditions for residents. It will be used to support the rehabilitation and extension of water supply, sewage network and treatment facilities in Vilnius and surrounding regions.
