More than a dozen ‘new infrastructure’ projects under way in China

Construction is under way on 14 “new infrastructure” projects in Tianjin’s Binhai New Area in China, according to China Daily.

The projects encompass a broad spectrum of the infrastructure space and include 5G networks, artificial intelligence, smart cities, intelligent transportation, industrial interconnectivity, and innovation.

One of the projects is an 18.67-hectare (46-acre) data center invested in by Chinese tech giant Tencent. Upon its completion, the project will be one of Tencent’s eight data centers in China.

The slew of new infrastructure projects also includes many AI-backed projects, as well as Huawei's intelligent transportation project, China Mobile’s 5G coverage projects for the marine museum and a library of the eco-city, and IFLYTEK’s AI scheduling platform, according to China Daily.

The projects will involve a total investment of 1.39 billion yuan ($196 million).
