Equinor is moving forward with the development of the previously announced 88-megawatt Hywind Tampen wind farm in Norway, following approval by Norwegian authorities.
The wind farm will consist of 11 wind turbines of 8 megawatts each based on the Hywind technology developed by Equinor. Hywind Tampen will be located some 140 kilometers (87 miles) offshore in around 300 meters (984 feet) of water.
In October 2019, Equinor, along with its partners in the Snorre and Gullfaks fields, submitted two updated plans for development and operation to Norwegian authorities.
Equinor said the Snorre and Gullfaks platforms will be the first platforms in the world to receive power from a floating offshore wind farm.
