DCI Data Centers had received the green light to purchase land for the construction of a major new data center in Auckland, New Zealand.
With the approval, DCI, which owns and operates data centers that serve cloud and managed service providers, governments and enterprises across Asia Pacific, will be kicking off its cloud program in New Zealand.
“This site is the first step for us in New Zealand, and we are currently finalizing selection of further sites to meet strong demand,” said Malcolm Roe, CEO of DCI for Australia and New Zealand. “Increasing cloud use in New Zealand is driving the demand for several high-capacity, environmentally friendly data centers and other related infrastructure within the country.”
The new facility, known as DCI AKL01, will be located on a site at Westgate in northwest Auckland.
