Data center capacity to see slower growth in coming decade

Despite the notable boom in the data center market in recent years, the growth rate in new data center capacity is actually expected to slow across the EMEA, Americas and Asia Pacific regions by 2030, according to a new report by Data Centre Pricing (DCP).

The report, titled The Data Centre Decade, examines the trends in third-party data center markets worldwide, including space, power, facility design and technology worldwide from 2010 to the end of 2019. It also provides insight into the key trends that will affect the sector in the decade ahead from 2020 to 2030.

The EMEA and Asia Pacific regions continue to have the highest growth rates, though the United States still accounts for almost 40 percent of the major cloud and internet data center sites. Of the three regions, noted DCP, Asia Pacific saw the highest growth rate as of 2019, representing an annual growth rate of 13.8 percent.
