Denmark’s ATP pension fund has purchased a 27.7 percent stake in Copenhagen Airports from Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund III, managed by Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets, for DKK 9.76 billion ($1.6 billion).
Canadian pension fund Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan holds a 30 percent stake in the airport company.
The deal will give the pension funds a controlling 57.7 percent share while the Danish state will continue to own a stake of 39.2 percent. The rest is held by private investors.
The transaction depends on approval by the Danish and European Union authorities and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter.
