CPP Investments ends third quarter of FY21 with $374b of net assets

Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) has ended the third quarter of fiscal year 2021 with C$475.7 billion ($374 billion) of net assets, surpassing its C$456.7 billion ($360 billion) from the previous quarter.

The C$19 billion increase in net assets for the quarter consisted of C$23 billion ($18 billion) in net income after all CPP Investments costs less than C$4 billion ($3.1 billion) in net Canada Pension Plan (CPP) outflows.

The fund, which includes the combination of the base CPP and additional CPP accounts, achieved 10-year and five-year annualized net nominal returns of 10.8 percent and 9.7 percent, respectively. For the quarter, the fund returned 5.1 percent net of all CPP Investments costs.

For the nine-month fiscal year-to-date period, the fund increased by C$66.1 billion ($52 billion) consisting of C$67.5 billion ($53 billion) in net income after all CPP Investments costs, less C$1.4 billion ($1.1 billion) in net CPP outflows. For the
