Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners secures €375m for green-fuel strategy

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has completed a first closing of its new mid-cap green-fuel strategy, CI Advanced Bioenergy Fund I (CI ABF I).

The fund raised €375 million ($400 million) from four large institutional investors from Denmark (PensionDanmark and Industriens Pension), Sweden (Andra AP-fonden and Fjärde AP-fonden), as well as Vestas and CIP. The vehicle has a target fund size of €1 billion ($1.1 billion).

CI ABF I will focus on equity investments in advanced bioenergy infrastructure in Europe and North America. Investments will be dark green, based on sustainable feedstock such as waste wood, agricultural biowaste, and household and industrial biowaste. The offtake products will include green gas and green fuels, such as renewable natural gas (RNG), liquified natural gas (bio-LNG) and second-generation bioethanol.
