Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners acquires fixed-bottom offshore wind project in the U.K.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), has signed a transaction to acquire the full ownership of Morecambe, a 480-megawatt advanced-stage, fixed-bottom offshore wind project located off the west coast of England, from COBRA Group and Flotation Energy.

The project lease was secured in the U.K. Offshore Wind Leasing Round 4 in 2021, and consent applications have been submitted.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Flotation Energy, which is owned by TEPCO Renewable Power, will remain involved after the transaction as a development partner to the project.

CIP said the acquisition of Morecambe signals further growth for the firm’s U.K. development pipeline, which now stands at more than 25 gigawatts, encompassing offshore wind, onshore wind, solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and network infrastructure.
