Continuum Wind Energy launches $560m green bond

Morgan Stanley–backed Continuum Wind Energy has launched a six-year, $560 million green bond issue, two merchant banking sources told PTI. 

IFC Washington is an anchor investor in the issuance, while Deutsche Bank served as the lead banker for the transaction. Other merchant bankers included StanChart, HSBC, JP Morgan and Emirates.

With a 2-gigawatt portfolio, Continuum Wind Energy has become one of the largest suppliers of renewable power to corporations in the commercial and industrial segments of India. The company owns and operates 386.2 megawatts of wind projects in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, and 371.2 megawatts of wind and solar power projects in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat.

The company is also constructing a 400-megawatt wind project in Gujarat under an agreement with the Solar Energy Corp.
