A few years ago, modular construction veteran Rick Murdock read an advertisement about an automation event in Omaha, Neb., that, as he says, “tripped my trigger.” He booked a flight and spent two days being wowed by robotic construction equipment featured by European companies.
“I was pretty amazed at the different types of automation they had that wasn't being used in our country,” Murdock said during a recent podcast with Real Assets Adviser. “That got me wrapped around the axles because I was thinking about modular manufacturing and could see how this could work for us.”
He reached out to one of the companies and explained his keen interest in creating a company that used automated robots for construction projects. He traveled to Europe and spent a lot of time in Sweden in particular.
