A joint venture led by VINCI Construction Grands Projets has secured a €799 million ($864 million) construction contract for work on Grand Paris Express in France, the biggest urban mobility program currently under way in Europe.
Section 1 will link Orly airport to Massy-Palaiseau and continue with a planned extension of Line 18 to Versailles.
Société du Grand Paris awarded the contract to the joint venture, which includes VINCI Construction Grands Projets and several of its subsidiaries, representing 75 percent of the joint venture. The consortium also includes two subsidiaries of Spie batignolles, representing the remaining 25 percent of the joint venture.
The contract calls for the excavation of 1 million cubic meters of material. The groups will dig 11.8 kilometers (7.3 miles) of tunnels and build three stations, 13 ancillary engineering structures, 10 branches connecting with the tunnel, and 850 meters (2,788 feet) of cut and cover.
