Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trust Funds backs Ares Management real estate fund

The $37 billion Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trust Funds (CRPTF), a pension fund managed by the state of Connecticut, has committed $100 million to Ares Real Estate Enhanced Income Fund, managed by Ares Management.

Launched in December 2018, the open-end fund will invest in U.S. properties.

Treasurer Shawn Wooden announced the investment alongside several private equity and secondary overflow fund commitments at the last investment advisory council meeting of the year, which took place in December.

“We continue to make commitments in line with pacing plans established for our private market asset classes in a way that diversifies the portfolio and lowers our risk profile,” said Wooden. “Our work throughout 2019 has better positioned the CRPTF so
