Colombian canal P3 project moves forward

by Kali Persall

Colombia's National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) is planning to launch the pre-qualification process for a public-private partnership (P3) that involves the rehabilitation of the Canal del Dique, which connects the Magdalena River and Cartagena Bay, according to InfraPPP.

The project, known as the Restoration of Degraded Ecosystems of the Dock Channel, aims to improve navigation between the bay of Cartagena and Calamar on the Magdalena riverbank. The project also would restore the degraded ecosystem of the Canal del Dique.

The planned development is expected to represent an investment amount of up to COP 2.3 billion ($615,000), which is expected to be sourced from the National Government of Colombia.

The prequalification process will assess the legal, financial and investment experience required to participate in the project tender.
