Claremont McKenna College generated a 5.2 percent return for its investments for the fiscal year ended on June 30, slightly underperforming its 5.8 percent benchmark.
During the past 10 years, the college’s portfolio has produced an annualized return of 8.4 percent. A total of $143.6 million of the college’s $2.1 billion of investments is invested in real estate.
In a letter to the board of trustees, Erin Watkins, vice president of business and CFO at Claremont McKenna College, wrote, “In light of the many challenges and uncertainties facing higher education institutions, we continue to seek ways to strengthen the financial resiliency of the College. The board of trustees and administration of the College are committed to closely monitoring the uncertain and changing environment and to carefully stewarding the College’s resources, keeping CMC on its positive upward trajectory.”
