Dominic Garcia, CIO of the Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) of New Mexico, will step down to pursue a new professional opportunity in June.
Garcia served at PERA for eight years, and the last four years as CIO. He was also previously a senior funds alpha manager for the State of Wisconsin Investment Board.
“Thank you to Dominic for all his hard work,” said Greg Trujillo, interim executive director. “Our members and staff have benefited greatly from his contributions. PERA wishes Dominic nothing but the best and thanks him for his service.”
Kristin Varela, deputy CIO, who has served under Garcia since 2017, will lead the investments team in the interim.
As of December 2020, PERA’s total fund value stood at $16.4 billion.
