China Life Insurance backs Warburg Pincus’ new Asian fund

by Kali Persall

China Life Insurance Co. has committed $30 million to Warburg Pincus Asia Real Estate, IREI understands.

The fund was opened to investors in March and is targeting $1.5 billion.

Warburg Pincus has been an active investor in Asia Pacific real estate, according to the firm’s website. The firm has invested in a variety of major real estate platforms in this region, many of which Warburg Pincus co-founded alongside the entrepreneurs.

The firm’s real estate investments span all major categories, with a particular emphasis on “new economy” verticals. Warburg Pincus says it has established a track record across residential, commercial, hospitality, industrial, logistics, data centers and other niche real estate sectors, including parking and self-storage.

China Life could not be reached to comment on its investment activity at the time of publication.
