Charles Hyde to lead asset allocation strategy for NZ Super Fund

Charles Hyde has been selected as head of asset allocation for the $58 billion NZ Super Fund, following an extensive external search process. His role will take effect on July 1.

The fund is managed by a crown entity, the Guardians of NZ Superannuation. Hyde will oversee the construction of the fund’s reference portfolio, the allocation of risk capital across the fund and the Guardians’ economics function.

In his new role, he will report to CIO Stephen Gilmore.

“The asset allocation team is the unifying force behind our investment decision-making, and I look forward to working with Charles and his team as the NZ Super Fund continues to grow,” said Gilmore.

Hyde joined the Guardians in 2015 as a senior investment strategist, through which he has been closely involved in a number of key projects, including the review of the Guardians’ climate change strategy. He has also been heavily involved in developing the Guardians’ equity factors investmen
