CEE Group buys juwi milestone wind farm in Germany

by Kali Persall

CEE Group, a specialist renewable energy asset management company, has acquired the 14.4-megawatt Mohlis Wind Farm in Germany from Juwi in a move to expand its onshore wind portfolio.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The Mohlis Wind Farm is Juwi’s milestone project, as the first of the four plants is the 1,000th turbine planned and built by the company. Juwi said it is one of the first German project developers to reach this benchmark. The company has 44 wind energy plants and a capacity of approximately 130 megawatts.

The wind farm is located 20 kilometers (12 miles) northeast of the city of Gera in Thuringia, a state in east-central Germany. It consists of four Vestas V136 turbines, each with an installed capacity of 3.6 megawatts. Together, the plants generate around 50 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually, enough to power 16,000 households and save 37,600 tons of carbon dioxide.

With the acquisition, CEE Group company now has an onshore wind energy portfolio with installed capacity of 405 megawatts and a solar photovoltaic portfolio with a total capacity of 315 megawatts, according to a joint statement released by the companies. As of 2018, CEE’s energy assets produced 1.1 billion kilowatt hours of electricity.

The deal marks the two companies’ seventh joint project.
