CDPQ and Fengate to co-fund eStruxture Data Centers

by Kali Persall

Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), a Canadian institutional investor, and Fengate Asset Management are investing in eStruxture Data Centers, a data center solutions provider based in Quebec, the firms announced on Aug. 6.

The amount of capital was not disclosed, but the co-investment supports eStruxture’s growth strategy to focus on acquisitions, the expansion of existing data centers, and the construction of new data centers, CDPQ said.

eStruxture has already deployed part of the capital to acquire a new state-of-the-art data center from Shaw Communications in Calgary, Canada, early this month, according to the company. It will also expand its existing data centers, starting with the facility located in Montreal’s historic Gazette building. Construction will expand the space to 17,300 square meters (186,215square feet) with a capacity of 30 megawatts, making it one of the largest, most power-dense data centers in the region, according to CDPQ.

eStruxture currently operates five data centers, of which three are located in Montreal and two in Vancouver.
