Carlyle raises $1.6b for Realty Partners VII

by Reg Clodfelter

The Carlyle Group has raised $1.55 billion for Carlyle Realty Partners VII, an opportunistic fund that launched November 2013, according to a filing with the SEC.

The fund has already raised more than a third of the $4.3 billion it is looking to raise by March 2015. It is seeking gross returns of 20 percent though the acquisition, value enhancement and disposition of mispriced and undervalued U.S. real estate assets across property types.

Recent institutional investors in the fund include the $43.59 billion Teachers’ Retirement System of Illinois, which committed $100 million to the fund
