CalPERS looks to hire investment officer, infrastructure

The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) is seeking a new investment officer to help build out one of the largest unlisted infrastructure portfolios in the U.S. public pension plan space.

The role will involve fund, co-investment and co-underwriting activities with a global reach, according to a recent LinkedIn posting by Juan Gaviria, investment director at the pension fund.

The investment officer III (IO III) is principally responsible for sourcing and underwriting new investment opportunities, managing the existing portfolio, and research and strategic planning, according to the official job posting.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

Sourcing and underwriting of new investment opportunities, including new partnerships (e.g., commingled funds or separately managed accounts) and single assets and/or platforms (direct investments, co-investments or investments falling outside partners’ delegated authorities)
