CA Ventures makes two key appointments for European operations

by Released

CA Ventures, a $10.2 billion vertically integrated real estate investment company, has strengthened its team in Europe with the appointments of Matt Taylor as CFO and Philip Sanford as head of human resources, Europe.

Taylor is appointed with over 20 years’ financial experience within the real estate industry. He joins CA Ventures in Europe from ThreeSixty Developments, the student housing developer and operator owned by funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management.

And Sanford spent the past 11 years at global marketing services group, Engine, where he was most recently head of human resources, covering the United Kingdom and Germany.

The appointments, both based in London, follow the launch of CA Ventures in Europe. Announced in September, the firm has begun constructing three sites in Sheffield, Edinburgh and Glasgow, committing £500 million ($643 million) per annum in student accommodation across the United Kingdom and Ireland, as well as a further pipeline of £200 million ($257 million) a year in Spain and £150 million ($193 million) a year in both Portugal and Italy.

Carlo Matta, head of Europe, CA Ventures, said: “The appointments reflect our commitment to building an outstanding team in Europe following our launch to the region in September. Both have a wealth of experience and share in our vision to capitalize on the real opportunity in the market, where there is strong appetite for high-quality, institutional-grade student housing.

“[Taylor’s] experience in helping to deliver large portfolios across Europe is in alignment with our own objectives and is therefore incredibly valuable to us. So too is [Sanford’s] skillset, which will help us to drive the process of attracting and retaining the best talent in the industry to ensure we reach our ambitious targets in Europe.”
