ByteDance to launch data center in India

by Kali Persall

Chinese technology company ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok social media video-making app, has revealed that it plans to launch a new data center facility in India, Data Economy reported Monday.

The move is part of the company’s $1 billion investment strategy, which involves ByteDance investing in the country over the next three years.

ByteDance is currently storing data for TikTok and its health lifestyle Helo app in third-party centers in the United States and Singapore. India is reportedly one of the company’s strongest markets.

The company is in the process of examining options for safe, secure and reliable services for Indian users within the country’s borders, ByteDance told Data Economy.
