BW ESS, a global energy storage owner-operator, has announced the energization of its 100-megawatt/331-megawatt-hour battery energy storage system (BESS) near Bramley, Hampshire, in England.
This project is the largest of its kind to enter operation in the United Kingdom. As the first European project equipped with Sungrow’s advanced PowerTitan 2.0 liquid-cooled technology, Bramley BESS is one of the United Kingdom’s longest-duration and most versatile energy-storage assets. Bramley is capable of meeting the average daily electricity needs of 44,000 U.K. homes, helping reduce emissions, costs and energy prices while enhancing system resilience.
“This is a landmark moment for BW ESS’ U.K. roll-out, and a notable project in the context of the United Kingdom’s energy transition,” said Erik Strømsø, CEO of BW ESS. “Bramley is a state-of-the-art, pioneering project aligned with our mission to unlock the value of energy storage.
