by Jody Barhanovich

Blue Water Energy, a London-based private equity firm that invests exclusively in the energy sector, has raised $791.6 million for Blue Water Energy Fund II, according to a filing with the SEC.

Blue Water Energy focuses on three strategic energy subsectors that provide a balanced portfolio of stable, cash-generative and growth-orientated businesses across the supply chain, while also retaining a strategic interest in the underlying hydrocarbon resource.

Blue Water Energy Fund II previously received a $50 million commitment from the $11.6 billion Regents of the University of Michigan.

Blue Water currently manages and advises the fund’s predecessor, Blue Water Energy Fund I, with a total capital commitment of $861 million.

Both funds in the series have a global portfolio of 14 investment platforms spread across the three sectors of exploration and production, upstream equipment and services, and mid/downstream equipment and services.
